Our History:

Northeast Center for Special Care is the result of a vision - a special care program of rehabilitation and recovery to serve individuals with complex needs such as brain injury, neurobehavioral disorders, spinal cord injury, complex medical recovery, ventilator care and ventilator weaning.

Our Purpose:

Our Resident-Neighbors are supported through various phases of recovery and rehabilitation ultimately toward reentry into the community. To maximize the greatest, positive outcomes, Northeast Center for Special Care offers a wide range of innovative therapeutic approaches combined with medical, rehabilitation and recovery services.

Our staff includes physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychiatry, neurology, neuropsychologist, recreation specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, respiratory therapists, an artist in residence, and other disciplines.

About Us:

We are a complete therapeutic community with eight distinctive neighborhoods. We offer access to the internet, a restaurant, post office, bank, resident-run store, hair salon/barbershop, fitness equipment, Eden-type atria with birds, fish, other animals and plant life. Our fine arts and performing arts programs are innovative and unique and encourage emotional well-being and personal growth.

Northeast Center for Special Care is located on a lovely thirty-nine acre campus at the foot of the picturesque Catskill Mountains in Lake Katrine, NY. Our two hundred and nine thousand square foot state-of-art facility provides accommodations for two hundred and eighty Resident-Neighbors. We are minutes from the New York State Thruway.
